Toshiba offers enhanced processor options to European ASIC and Foundry customers

Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) is now offering the ARM Cortex-A9MP and the ARM Cortex-R4F processor cores for use with the company's full range of ASIC technologies - including processes down to 40nm. With local support from Toshiba's European LSI Design and Engineering Centre (ELDEC), European customers can choose the ARM cores to improve performance, reduce power consumption and minimise board space in ASIC and ASSP designs for applications ranging from mobile devices to consumer electronics applications.

Loads of new 16-Bit MCUs with on-chip flash memory from Renesas Technology

Renesas Technology Europe has announced the addition of a total of 36 new models (72 type names) in 12 groups featuring enhanced functions and higher package pin counts. These include the 80-pin R8C/38E group, 64-pin R8C/36E group, and the 48-pin R8C/34E group. Together they strengthen the R8C/Tiny Series line-up for in-vehicle automotive equipment applications.

8-bit microcontrollers from SST

SST (Silicon Storage Technology) has announced a new addition to its FlashFlex family of 8-bit microcontrollers (MCUs), the SST89C58RC. The new device is the industry's first 8051-based MCU to feature two system management buses (SMBus), each supporting up to 400 Kbit per second data throughput, in a tiny 6mm x 6mm QFN package. The SST89C58RC supports operating voltages from 2.7V to 5.5V for implementation in applications with a variety of power supply requirements. Its dual SMBus feature, small form factor and support for a wide range of operating voltages make the SST89C58RC MCU an ideal solution for numerous applications, including HDMI, HDTVs, A/V receivers, home appliances, industrial instruments, notebook PCs, DVD players, Blu-ray players, RF modules and security applications such as fingerprint identification.

Jennic's 32-bit ZigBee PRO wireless microcontroller

Jennic has announced the introduction of a ZigBee PRO software stack to run on its JN5139 32-bit single chip wireless microcontroller. Both embedded single chip and co-processor configurations are supported, allowing designers of industrial automation, energy metering and home or building control applications to create highly-integrated, cost-effective products.
